Nadia de la Houssaye, a partner on the firm’s Healthcare team and chair of the firm’s telemedicine section, was recently featured in a Bloomberg BNA article entitled “Telemedicine Reimbursement Laws Challenge Insurers and Providers Alike.” The article examines the challenges surrounding insurance for telemedicine services. Ms. de la Houssaye explains that telemedicine is beneficial for early diagnosis and proactive disease management, saying, “Telemedicine is the only solution in diagnosing a health condition, when time is of the essence, like a stroke or heart attack, and no physician specialists are available to timely treat the patient in person. With large physician shortages, particularly in rural areas, a telemedicine platform makes the difference between life and death and a full recovery versus long-term disabilities with extended hospital stays.”
