Litigation partner Cove Geary secured a zero verdict for Louisiana Machinery Company at the conclusion of a two-week jury trial in Lake Charles, in defense of a $ 2.5 million suit for redhibition, breach of contract and negligent repair involving a fleet of 25 cement mixer trucks. The plaintiff, a large Lake Charles cement contractor named Dunham Price, Inc, sued Louisiana Machinery, Caterpillar, Ford Motor Company and Sterling Motors alleging that that the Caterpillar engines were underpowered and other defects. Although Louisiana Machinery won its case, verdicts were entered against Caterpillar and Ford.
