Chris Hannan and Sara Kuebel, partners in the Maritime Practice Group in the New Orleans office, presented on the MyLawCLE webinar "Maritime Jurisdiction in State-Court Injury Cases: Worker, Passenger, and Vessel Casualty Claims" on July 29, 2026. Chris and Sara's "Seaman Status, LHWCA, OCSLA, Removal, Remand, State Comp Boundary" presentation provided insight into how courts determine whether maritime workers qualify as seamen under the Chandris test, as well as the application of the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) and the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA). The discussion also covered workplace injury claims, the boundary between federal maritime and state workers' compensation systems, and procedural issues involving removal and remand in maritime jurisdiction disputes.
