Maritime Practice Group partners Grady Hurley and Al Rufty served as speakers during the Marine Log Ship Repair USA conference June 10–11 in New Orleans. Grady moderated the "Safety Strategies and Regulatory Readiness" panel, which included a discussion between yards, regulatory bodies, and vessel owner/operators on HSE integration, regulatory inspection readiness, workforce and infrastructure challenges, and changing regulations. Al presented "How to Protect Your Company in Your Contracts," which discussed indemnity and insurance issues commonly faced by construction and repair facilities, vessel owners, and operators in their contracts including indemnity clauses, additional insured status, typical policies and endorsements, and traps for the unwary to avoid.
