Grady Hurley, a partner in the Maritime Practice Group in the New Orleans office, has been elected as Second Vice President of the Maritime Law Association of the United States (MLA). Grady serves as the leader of the firm’s maritime litigation and arbitration team and co-chair of the Energy, Environmental & Natural Resources Industry Team.

Grady has been involved with the MLA for more than 35 years. He has served as a member of the Young Lawyers Committee (1989-1995); Chairman of Offshore Industries Committee (2004-2008); and as a member of the Board of Directors (2005-2009). In recent years, Grady has held the positions of Membership Secretary (2016-2019) and Secretary (2018-2020). This year, Grady will begin his two-year term as Second Vice President of the MLA, and he will also assume his role as Chair of the MLA Special Committee on COVID-19.

Grady is actively involved in several other maritime and admiralty-related organizations including serving on the Boards of the Tulane Admiralty Law Institute, the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, and as a Vice Chair of the ABA TIPS Committee on Admiralty and Maritime Law.

Founded in 1899, the MLA is the oldest and most recognized maritime legal organization in the United States, furthering the understanding and advancement of maritime law among lawyers, scholars, and maritime industries.
