It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Bob Acomb, a senior partner in the Maritime Practice Group in the New Orleans office, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, following a short illness. Bob was a past member of the firm’s former management committee and served as the first Maritime Practice Group leader.
At Tulane, Bob was a founding member of the Tulane Admiralty Law Institute and past-president of the Tulane Alumni Association. He served as an adjunct professor teaching Admiralty II for over three decades, during which he developed a case book on maritime law. An esteemed maritime attorney, Bob was elected Distinguished Maritime Lawyer for 1996 by the New Orleans Bar Association. He also received the 2002 New Orleans Bar Association Presidents’ Award and the 2002 Louisiana Bar Foundation Award. In 2007, Bob was elected Commander of the Military Order of Foreign Wars of the United States — Louisiana Commandery.
The attorneys and staff of Jones Walker extend their deepest condolences to the Acomb family during this time.
