HOUSTON, March 30, 2012—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that Joshua A. Norris, Lara D. Pringle, and Krystal Pfluger Scott have been named to the “Rising Stars” 2012 edition of Texas Super Lawyers. Each year, the “Rising Star” honor is bestowed upon fewer than 2.5 percent of attorneys in a particular state.
Mr. Norris, a partner in the firm’s Business and Commercial Litigation Practice Group, represents clients in a variety of litigation involving commercial disputes, including oil and gas indemnity agreements, and the enforcement and prosecution of contractual rights. Mr. Norris developed a focus in energy condemnation proceedings and project consultation. Also, he has experience representing large oil and gas industry clients in matters involving industrial accidents, environmental contamination claims, and international terrorist attacks on oil and gas facilities in the Middle East. Mr. Norris is a 2000 graduate of Tulane University Law School, where he received his juris doctor degree, magna cum laude.
Ms. Pringle, an associate in the firm’s Business and Commercial Litigation Practice Group, focuses on the areas of business litigation, primarily for oil and gas clients. Ms. Scott, also an associate in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group, represents both onshore and offshore energy clients in oil and gas matters including enforcing contractual rights, compliance with industry regulations, and class actions. Ms. Scott has developed a focus on litigation of royalty disputes; transportation, gathering, and marketing disputes; lease maintenance and operations disputes; and disputes involving error, fraud, and fraudulent transfer claims.
Each year, Super Lawyers asks attorneys to nominate outstanding colleagues under 40 years of age, or who have been practicing law for fewer than 10 years, as “Rising Stars” in the legal profession. Attorneys nominate those whom they have personally observed in action as opposing counsel, as co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation. An attorney-led research team then reviews the credentials of potential candidates, assigns points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria, and ensures nominees are ranked by point totals. Those with the highest scores are named to the “Rising Stars” list. To ensure a diverse and well-balanced list, the research staff considers factors such as firm size, practice area, and geographic location.
Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrère & Denègre L.L.P., with more than 375 attorneys, provides a comprehensive range of legal services to a national and international corporate client base through offices in Alabama, Arizona, the District of Columbia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
