Jones Walker Announces New Partners and Board of Directors Members; Two New Practice Leaders Selected

NEW ORLEANS—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that partner F. Rivers Lelong, Jr. and partner James C. Percy have been elected to the firm's Board of Directors for a four-year term, commencing January 1, 2010.

Jones Walker's Managing Partner, William H. Hines, made the announcement today. Mr. Hines also thanked outgoing Board of Directors members Louis S. Quinn and David F. Radlauer for their service: "I would like to thank Louie and David for their years of valuable service on our Board. We greatly appreciate the leadership they have provided the firm."

Effective January 1, 2010, Mr. Quinn will become the practice group leader of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. In addition, William M. Backstrom, Jr. is replacing Miriam Wogan Henry as practice group leader of the firm's Tax & Estates Practice Group. Mr. Hines lauded Ms. Henry for her service as leader of the Tax & Estates Practice Group for the past several years.

Before assuming the Board position, Mr. Lelong was the practice group leader of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. His practice involves a variety of commercial transactions, including secured finance, real estate, acquisitions and divestitures of privately held companies and their assets, trademark licensing, and the negotiation of sophisticated commercial contracts. He is a 1990 graduate of Stanford Law School, where he received his juris doctor degree. Mr. Lelong received his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Amherst College in 1987.

Mr. Percy is a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group. His practice primarily focuses on commercial litigation, environmental and utilities regulatory work, and government relations. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and has served as Deputy Director of the Louisiana Municipal Association (1984–1988) and as Special Assistant Parish Attorney for the City of Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge (1997–2003). Mr. Percy received his Master of Laws in Taxation from University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law in 1978, and received his juris doctor degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, in 1977. He is a 1972 graduate of Louisiana State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

  • Sarah B. Belter, Business & Commercial Litigation, New Orleans
    Ms. Belter received her juris doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 2003. At Miami, she served as Articles and Comments Editor of the University of Miami Law Review. Ms. Belter received her bachelor of arts degree from Emory University in 1999.
  • Michael B. Donald, Business & Commercial Litigation, Houston
    Mr. Donald is a 1985 graduate of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, where he received his juris doctor degree. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History and Latin American Studies, with honors, from Tulane University in 1982.
  • Michael C. Drew, Business & Commercial Litigation, New Orleans
    Mr. Drew received his juris doctor degree from The University of Chicago Law School in 2002. He received his bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees, cum laude, from Duke University in 1998.
  • Allen E. Frederic, III, Corporate & Securities, New Orleans
    Mr. Frederic is a 2003 graduate of Tulane University Law School, where he received his juris doctor degree, cum laude. He received his bachelor of science degree, summa cum laude, from Texas Christian University in 2000.
  • Asher J. Friend, Corporate & Securities, New Orleans
    Mr. Friend received his juris doctor degree, cum laude, from Tulane University Law School in 2003. He is a 1999 graduate of Indiana University, where he received his bachelor of arts degree.
  • Neely Sharp Griffith, Business & Commercial Litigation, New Orleans
    Ms. Griffith received her juris doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Tulane University Law School in 2002. She served as Senior Notes and Comments Editor of the Tulane Law Review. Ms. Griffith is a 1999 graduate of Rhodes College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude.
  • Joshua A. Norris, Business & Commercial Litigation, Houston
    Mr. Norris is a 2000 graduate of Tulane University Law School, where he received his juris doctor degree, magna cum laude. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Davidson College in 1997.
  • Myla R. Reizen, Corporate & Securities, Miami
    Ms. Reizen received her juris doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1995. She is a 1991 graduate of Vanderbilt University, where she received her bachelor of science degree, summa cum laude.
  • William P. Wynne, Maritime & Admiralty, New Orleans
    Mr. Wynne is a 2003 graduate of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he received his juris doctor degree, summa cum laude, and was a member of the Loyola Law Review. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Louisiana State University in 2000 and was a recipient of a National Merit Scholarship.
