NEW ORLEANS—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that partner F. Rivers Lelong, Jr. and partner James C. Percy have been elected to the firm's Board of Directors for a four-year term, commencing January 1, 2010.
Jones Walker's Managing Partner, William H. Hines, made the announcement today. Mr. Hines also thanked outgoing Board of Directors members Louis S. Quinn and David F. Radlauer for their service: "I would like to thank Louie and David for their years of valuable service on our Board. We greatly appreciate the leadership they have provided the firm."
Effective January 1, 2010, Mr. Quinn will become the practice group leader of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. In addition, William M. Backstrom, Jr. is replacing Miriam Wogan Henry as practice group leader of the firm's Tax & Estates Practice Group. Mr. Hines lauded Ms. Henry for her service as leader of the Tax & Estates Practice Group for the past several years.
Before assuming the Board position, Mr. Lelong was the practice group leader of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. His practice involves a variety of commercial transactions, including secured finance, real estate, acquisitions and divestitures of privately held companies and their assets, trademark licensing, and the negotiation of sophisticated commercial contracts. He is a 1990 graduate of Stanford Law School, where he received his juris doctor degree. Mr. Lelong received his Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Amherst College in 1987.
Mr. Percy is a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group. His practice primarily focuses on commercial litigation, environmental and utilities regulatory work, and government relations. He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and has served as Deputy Director of the Louisiana Municipal Association (1984–1988) and as Special Assistant Parish Attorney for the City of Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge (1997–2003). Mr. Percy received his Master of Laws in Taxation from University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law in 1978, and received his juris doctor degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, in 1977. He is a 1972 graduate of Louisiana State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
