Attorneys Jim Noe, Sarah Dicharry, and Nnaemeka Anyanwu represented a Chinese company, Reignwood International Investment (Group) Company Limited, in the $100 million dollar purchase of a stake in a large exploration gas block offshore Myanmar in Southeast Asia. The purchase agreements and transaction documents were signed by the parties in Singapore on January 9, 2019. The block will be jointly developed by the client and the seller, CFG Energy Pty Ltd, a Singapore company. Following the closing of the transaction, the client intends to build a pipeline and a liquefied natural gas liquefaction facility in Myanmar. The Jones Walker team is working with the client and the government of the Peoples Republic of China to qualify the project as a “Belt and Road Initiative” project, China’s one trillion dollar infrastructure investment project along the former land and maritime Silk Road.
