Asher J. Friend, partner in the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group and co-chair of the BioTechnology and Life Sciences and Private Equity teams, was a featured speaker at a seminar titled, "A Brief Overview of Some Critical Legal Issues for Start-Up and Emerging Businesses," hosted by the Young Adult Division ("Y.A.D.") of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans on July 12, 2012. Mr. Friend's presentation titled, "Raising Capital," detailed forms of capital and the issues emerging businesses face when trying to fund their start-up. Other topics discussed at the presentation include "Choice of Entity," "Building a Winning Team," and "Tax Credits and Incentives."
