NEW ORLEANS, June 5, 2015 – In a major victory, Jones Walker LLP, together with co-counsel Steptoe & Johnson LLP, set precedent and secured a complete defense acquittal for David Rainey, the highest ranking executive from BP charged in the Deepwater Horizon disaster. After only two and a half hours of deliberations earlier today, a New Orleans jury acquitted Mr. Rainey of charges that he made false statements to the FBI. The acquittal followed Monday’s dismissal of an obstruction of Congress charge against Mr. Rainey by the judge.
