The Jones Walker Tax & Estates Practice Group was recently honored by the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (“IPT”) with Article of the Year Awards at the organization’s Annual Conference. Jones Walker won two of the four national awards. “A Sale Alone is Not Enough: Cynthia Bridges, Secretary, Department of Revenue, State of Louisiana v. Production Operators, Inc., 2010-0905 (La. App. 4 Cir. 12/8/10)” was authored by partner Jesse R. “Jay” Adams, III and associate Matthew A. Mantle. The article captured the award in the sales tax category. “Foreign Corporations win the ‘Sprint;’ Prepare for the Marathon in Louisiana Franchise Tax Dispute” was a joint effort by William M. Backstrom, Jr. and Kathryn Scioneaux Friel, both partners, and took first place in the income tax category. Mr. Adams received the awards on the firm’s behalf at the Annual Conference.
