NEW ORLEANS—The firm is pleased to announce that Sanford B. Kaynor Jr. has joined the firm as special counsel in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group. He will practice from the firm’s New Orleans office.

Prior to joining Jones Walker, Mr. Kaynor worked at international law firms in New York for more than 20 years, most recently as a partner at Ropes & Gray LLP. He represents private equity and other financial and strategic investors and their portfolio companies, as well as family-owned companies and other public and private targets in private equity financings and M&A transactions. More particularly, his transactional practice includes representing buyers, sellers, and management groups in public and private mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, recapitalizations, restructurings, formation and termination of joint ventures and other strategic alliances, going-private transactions, and non-control investments. In addition, Mr. Kaynor represents private equity firms and investment banks in fund formation and related activities. He has also served as counsel for underwriters, issuers, and selling stockholders in connection with registered and unregistered public offerings of both debt and equity securities.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Kaynor traded government repurchase agreements and was responsible for other liability management-related activities at one of the world’s leading New York City-based investment banks.
Mr. Kaynor received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1987 and his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Yale University in 1981. In 2007, he received his M.B.A. from the A. B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, and he earned a degree from the Investment Banking Institute in New York in financial statement analysis, valuation methodologies, and financial modeling.
