Sara Kuebel, a partner in the Maritime Practice Group, and Jeff Tillery, a partner and co-leader of the firm's maritime litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution team, participated in a mock trial event hosted by Ladies of Energy and Marine Insurance (LEMI) on February 23, 2026. The event took place at the Harris County Civil Courthouse in Houston, Texas, and was livestreamed to LEMI members and law students across the country. Sara and Jeff, together with opposing counsel Jason Kenney and Barrett Rice of Staines, Eppling & Kenney, LLC, provided participants with real-world maritime scenarios and courtroom strategies to strengthen their understanding of the Jones Act and related liabilities. To provide an authentic experience, the mock trial utilized previously litigated case files; featured cross-examination of numerous witnesses, including maritime experts, a plaintiff, and company representatives; and was presided over by the Honorable Judge Donna Roth, who ruled in real time on objections.
