Jones Walker LLP announced today that Memrie Fortenberry has joined the firm as special counsel in the Jackson office and member of the Banking & Financial Services Industry Team.
Memrie is an experienced lawyer with a focus on bank regulatory and compliance matters. She regularly advises clients on a broad range of federal and state financial services regulations and laws, including Bank Secrecy Act, fair lending, and other consumer protection regulations. She is a certified community bank compliance officer and represents a broad range of banks, lenders, and other financial institutions with significant experience serving as outside counsel for community banks.
While in law school, Memrie served an externship for Judge Neil P. Olack of the US Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Mississippi. Prior to entering law school, she completed the management development associate program at Trustmark Bank and work as a corporate services officer. She earned her BA from the University of Mississippi, her MBA from Millsaps College, and her JD from Mississippi College School of Law.
