Cindy Muller, special counsel in the Maritime Practice Group in the Houston office, published “Implications for Offshore Energy Projects” in Texas Lawyer, an article about the Fifth Circuit’s newly established Doiron test for maritime contracts. Cindy discusses the history of jurisprudence regarding whether offshore energy services agreements are considered maritime contracts and how the Doiron test aims to provide a more straightforward methodology for determining whether maritime or state law applies. Cindy also discusses the application of the test in recent cases and implications moving forward.
