Kaytie M. Pickett, an associate in the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group in the Jackson office, recently scored an appellate victory for Highland Colony Land Company. Ms. Pickett was hired to represent Highland Colony in an appeal from a loss at the summary judgment stage on a breach of contract suit. The trial court held that Highland Colony owed a consultant over $85,000. The Mississippi Court of Appeals reversed, holding that the contract unambiguously did not require Highland Colony to pay the consultant a percentage of TIF bond funds held in a debt reserve account until those funds are released by the City of Ridgeland.
