Jones Walker partner Rob Worley has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in North America. The induction ceremony took place recently before an audience of approximately 550 during the Annual Meeting of the College in San Diego, California. Rob joins Pat Vance, Pauline Hardin, and Mike Magner as active Jones Walker partners who are fellows of the College.
Rob is a partner in Jones Walker’s Litigation Practice Group. He has extensive experience in jury trials, bench trials, administrative trials, and arbitrations. Rob defends clients in commercial litigation, land-based casualty litigation, maritime litigation, and employment litigation.
His experience is nationwide, as he has defended lawsuits in 34 states and has taken numerous cases to trial in 21 states. In Rob’s appellate practice he has presented oral argument before the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Eleventh Circuits, as well as before Louisiana Courts of Appeal. He once served as executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of a publicly traded financial services company, where he managed the company’s litigation in addition to his responsibilities as a corporate lawyer.
Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only, and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years’ trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.
Membership in the College cannot exceed 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are approximately 5,800 members in the College, including active Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, Judicial Fellows (those who ascended to the bench after their induction), and Honorary Fellows. The College maintains and seeks to improve the standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics, and the administration of justice through education and public statements on independence of the judiciary, trial by jury, respect for the rule of law, access to justice, and fair and just representation of all parties to legal proceedings.
Rob earned his JD from Tulane University School of Law and an Executive Master of Laws in Securities and Financial Regulation from the Georgetown University Law Center. He is an adjunct professor of law at Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law, where he teaches Advanced Trial Advocacy.
