NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 18, 2011—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that Rudolph R. Ramelli, a partner at the law firm, has been elected to serve as Chair-Elect of the Section of Taxation of the American Bar Association. Mr. Ramelli will serve in the position for one year before becoming Chair of the Section in August 2012. The ABA Section of Taxation was established in 1921 as a five-man ABA Special Committee on Internal Revenue and Its Means of Collection. Now, the Section of Taxation has over 22,000 members.

He has spearheaded the federal tax practice at Jones Walker and is well known by federal tax authorities, elected officials, tax practitioners, and corporate clients as an extraordinary legal mind. We are pleased that his colleagues in the ABA Tax Section have honored Ruddy with this position.”
Mr. Ramelli obtained an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, and his juris doctor degree from Tulane University Law School, where he was in the Order of the Coif and on the Tulane Law Review. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Loyola University, summa cum laude.
Mr. Ramelli stated that, “I am honored to assume these responsibilities with the ABA Section of Taxation serving as Chair-Elect and then Chair. Over the next two years, I hope to help advance the good work the Section of Taxation does for the tax bar. The Section of Taxation continues to work to improve the tax system, and I am pleased to play a leadership role in that effort.”
