M. Richard Schroeder, partner in the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Group, recently made presentations at both the Association of Corporate Counsel’s 2011 Corporate Counsel University (CCU) and the University of New Orleans’ (UNO) Energy Accounting and Technology Conference. For the former, Mr. Schroeder served on the faculty with Miriam Lefkowitz, General Counsel for Shufro, Rose & Co., and Margaret Richardson, Director & Senior Counsel of Surmodics, Inc. The three panelists discussed the issue of “Effective Compliance Programs to Manage Risk”. The event, held in New Orleans, Louisiana, May 15-17, 2011, covered a range of topics, including “The Complexities of Employment,” “Global Import and Export Controls,” and “Ethics for the In-house Attorney.”
Additionally, Mr. Schroeder, in conjunction with Jones Walker Business & Commercial Litigation Associate, Avery B. Pardee, gave a speech at the 43rd Annual UNO Energy Accounting & Technology Conference, May 12, 2011, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The two attorneys gave a presentation titled “Foreign Corrupt Practices Act” which detailed how FCPA regulations can impact activities in utilities procurement and energy services.
