Asher J. Friend, a partner in the firm's Corporate & Securities Practice Group and co-chair of the BioTechnology and Life Sciences and Entertainment teams, was a speaker at a presentation hosted by the New Orleans BioInnovation Center ("NOBIC") and The Idea Village on September 13, 2013. Mr. Friend's presentation, titled "The JOBS Act - Part Deux: SEC Adopts Rules Authorizing General Solicitation & Advertising in Connection with Certain Private Offerings," detailed the Act and discussed legislative updates on the JOBS Act and how the legislation and new rules have evolved since Spring 2012, including, most notably, the removal by the SEC of its longstanding prohibition on the use of general solicitation and advertising in connection with certain capital raising initiatives.
