Admiralty & Maritime partner, Jefferson R. Tillery, spoke to members and attendees at a recent meeting of the Greater New Orleans Port Safety Council. In light of last year’s BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Mr. Tillery addressed the issue of punitive damages under maritime law and recovery of economic damages under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. Attendees included a number of firm vessel owners and shipyard clients, along with representatives of the United States Coast Guard and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
