Brett S. Venn, a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group in the New Orleans office, recently published a Legal Update for the Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen Newsletter. In the article, Mr. Venn discussed the recent two opinions issued by the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Second Circuit, regarding the maximum terms permitted for mineral leases under Louisiana law, and the factors that district courts should apply in deciding whether mineral leases have terminated due to lack of production in "paying quantities."
