Pat Veters and Jane Heidingsfelder, partners in the Labor & Employment Practice Group in the New Orleans office, authored the alert “OSHA Issues COVID Related Guidance for the Oil & Gas Industry” on the Jones Walker Disaster Prep & Recovery Blog, which was also published by Employment Law Information Network. Pat and Jane report on the recent OSHA guidance to workers and employers in the oil and gas industry, such as staggering workers’ arrival and departure times to avoid congregations of workers and limiting the number of personnel allowed in dog houses, control rooms and other operating areas. Since each drilling and production site is not identical, Pat and Jane advise employers to initially conduct a risk assessment of their work sites and consider implementing some of the recommended engineering and administrative controls, where feasible.
