"What Can I Do To Defeat The Deckhand Who 'Turns Into A Captain' For Making A Wage Loss Claim? An Insight Into The Ethical And Professionalism Issues In Presenting And Arguing The Motion In Limine," Greater New Orleans Barge and Fleeting Association 40th River and Marine Industry Seminar, New Orleans, Louisiana

By Jefferson R. Tillery
April 24–26, 2024

Partners Marc Hebert, Mike Magner, Jeff Tillery, and Jason Culotta participated in this year's Greater New Orleans Barge Fleeting Association (GNOBFA) Seminar on April 24–26, 2024. Marc served as a moderator for the seminar, which featured a series of panel sessions addressing legal, insurance, regulatory, medical, and other timely issues facing the barge, fleeting, and towboat industry. Jason's panel presentation focused on the use of cannabis and other medicinal drugs in the workplace and discussed the different testing and reporting requirements by the US Coast Guard and US Department of Transportation. Jeff served as a defense counsel in a mock session outlining the ethical and professional issues in presenting and arguing a motion in limine. Mike served as a panelist on the closing panel, which highlighted what to do in the event of a joint US Coast Guard and National Transportation Safety Board investigation for a serious marine incident.
