Andy Lee, a partner and co-leader of the firm's privacy, data strategy, and artificial intelligence team, Michelle Ramsden, special counsel on the privacy, data strategy, and artificial intelligence team, and Ilsa Luther, an associate in the Maritime Practice Group, co-authored the article, "Who's At The Helm? Bridge Discipline In Maritime AI," published by Waterways Journal on May 29, 2026. In the article, Michelle, Andy, and Ilsa discussed the growing role of AI in the maritime industry, including improvements in safety, efficiency, and logistics, as well as new challenges related to accountability, liability, and regulatory complexities. They focused on how companies can use the National Institute of Standards and Technology AI Risk Management Framework to ensure they clearly define their AI use, map responsibilities and liabilities in contracts, measure AI decision-making and validation, and manage how an organization responds when something goes wrong.
