Andrés
Malavé

Position
Director of Government Relations
Office
Tallahassee

Andrés Malavé is a director in the Government Relations Practice Group. Andrés works closely with firm attorneys and clients to develop and implement effective legislative strategies that promote the interests of businesses and other entities in Florida and nationally.

Andrés is an experienced political and policy consultant who has worked with organizations across Florida to build coalitions and pursue initiatives that help improve the state's economy and better the lives of its citizens. Recognized for his leadership skills, extensive network of business and governmental contacts, and ability to align diverse perspectives in the pursuit of common objectives, he works with firm attorneys and clients to develop and promote effective legislation and regulatory policy.

Andrés has extensive experience in a broad range of television, print, and digital media strategies. He helps for-profit businesses, not-for-profit entities, and industry associations develop consistent policy narratives, and leverages his long-standing relationships with the members of national and state media to present client perspectives fairly and accurately. Drawing on his firsthand experience in the halls of the Florida Legislature, Andrés speaks the languages of elected officials and the public alike and understands their major concerns, from economic opportunity, education, and workforce development to law enforcement, taxation, technology, and more. He also understands Florida’s role as an international commercial center at the crossroads of the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond.

Prior to joining Jones Walker, Andrés served as the communications director to the speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. Before joining the speaker's office, he was the communications director of the Florida House Republican Campaign Committee. In 2020, he served as the regional communications director, Hispanic outreach, for the Republican National Committee.

Before returning to the political fray, Andrés held leadership positions at several entities, including Touchdown Strategies and Stand Together Communications. While serving as the director of Florida communications and the coordinator for Florida regional and Hispanic outreach at Americans for Prosperity, he helped lead the regional communications team that engaged with leaders across the country to advocate for better healthcare, fiscal policy, and educational outcomes. Andrés has also served in leadership positions for political campaigns across Florida and in New Jersey.

A prolific writer and commentator, he has contributed articles and been interviewed for a variety of news outlets, including US News & World Report, The Sun Sentinel, Investor's Business Daily, and Fox News.

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and the grandson of Cuban émigrés, Andrés moved with his family to Miami when he was 10 years old. He credits his childhood in South Florida for allowing him to witness the cultural, political, and economic contributions of Hispanic Americans in Florida and across the country and remains committed to helping empower his community and state.
