Casey earned her juris doctor degree, summa cum laude, and a diploma in comparative law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. She served as the production editor for the Louisiana Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif for graduating in the top 10% of her class.

Prior to earning her law degree, Casey worked for 11 years in human resources for a major oil company. Among her responsibilities, she worked with in-house counsel in connection with employment-related litigation and compliance and participated in union negotiations and grievance procedures.
