Dakota Stephens is an associate in the Litigation Practice Group and a member of the commercial disputes team. His practice also extends to the energy transition sector, environmental regulatory compliance, and disputes arising from construction contracts and real estate transactions.
Dakota represents clients in commercial litigation involving CO2 sequestration, mineral rights, project development, and contract performance. He has experience challenging local government actions, including parish and county ordinances, permitting decisions, and tax measures adopted by boards of supervisors. Dakota also advises clients in the energy, construction, and real estate industries on breach of contract, delay claims, and disputes arising from infrastructure and property development.
Prior to joining Jones Walker, he clerked for Chief Judge Terry A. Doughty of the US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Monroe Division. In law school, Dakota externed at the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Mississippi and was an active member of the Moot Court Board and the Louisiana Civil Law Society.
