With more than 20 years of experience as a commercial and bankruptcy litigator, Katie provides clients with targeted, effective legal counsel across a broad range of bankruptcy-related and other complex business disputes. She has successfully represented creditors, debtors, fiduciaries, trustees, business owners and executives, and publicly traded and privately held businesses as plaintiffs and defendants in numerous high-stakes matters, including preference and fraudulent transfer claims, director and officer liability, and disputes involving trustees and liquidating trustees.
Katie’s approach to litigation centers on identifying core issues and following what she calls “the golden thread” to resolution. Her ability to distill complex matters down to their essential elements allows her to craft targeted strategies that resonate with judges and juries alike. Katie has extensive experience at every stage of litigation, from discovery and motion practice through trial preparation and appeals, ensuring that the trial records support her clients’ positions at each step.
Prior to joining Jones Walker, Katie was the founder of her own boutique litigation firm, where she represented businesses and individuals in commercial and bankruptcy-related litigation, franchisor-franchisee disputes, securities litigation, breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims, and unfair trade practices matters. She has served as lead counsel in trials yielding multimillion-dollar verdicts, including securing a $1.3 million arbitration award for a franchisee against its franchisor and serving as co-lead counsel in high-profile Title IX litigation.
Katie’s litigation philosophy emphasizes efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining the aggressive advocacy her clients require. Her 360-degree view of complex disputes combined with her ability to adapt arguments for different audiences has earned her recognition as a fierce litigator and trusted business advisor.
