Keith Turner is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group and a member of the environmental litigation team, where he represents clients on a broad range of complex regulatory, enforcement, and litigation matters.
Keith came to the law from the field. Before becoming an attorney, he spent more than a decade as an environmental consultant, advising clients on water, air, hazardous waste, and groundwater remediation. That grounding shapes how he practices today; he is conversant in the science underlying environmental disputes and translates complex technical questions into clear terms for clients, regulators, and courts.
Keith represents clients before the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the US Army Corps of Engineers, as well as in environmental litigation. His work includes institutional controls and environmental covenants, brownfields redevelopment, and issues arising from the constantly shifting regulatory and judicial issues involving the waters of the United States (WOTUS). He also counsels clients on the environmental dimensions of energy projects, real estate transactions, and economic development initiatives.
As a former practicing geologist, Keith holds scientific experience uncommon among practicing attorneys. He shares that knowledge widely — as an adjunct professor at the Mississippi Christian University School of Law, where he has taught the Clean Water Act and hazardous waste law; as a former adjunct at Jackson State University’s College of Public Service; and as a frequent presenter at conferences on WOTUS, brownfields, permitting, and emerging environmental questions.
Clients turn to Keith for counsel that joins legal judgment with real technical understanding — a combination that helps them anticipate problems, manage risk, and resolve disputes efficiently.
