Ryan Johnson is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group and a member of the firm’s board of directors. He represents clients in a range of civil, administrative, and regulatory disputes.
Ryan represents clients in state and federal courts around the country in a wide range of complex commercial disputes and has extensive experience appearing before Louisiana administrative agencies and boards, arbitration tribunals, and federal and state trial and appellate courts.
In the products liability arena, Ryan is highly regarded by international and national recreational vehicle manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, and asbestos defendants facing toxic tort and serious personal injury claims. This litigation has included federal class action claims for toxic exposure as well as class action claims for breach of warranty and related claims. Ryan also represented several manufacturers in a yearslong, multidistrict litigation proceeding involving more than 5,000 individual lawsuits arising from hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In that litigation, he was appointed by the federal court as liaison counsel for the defendants.
Ryan also routinely defends companies in breach of warranty, securities, and intellectual property litigation, including claims for trademark and patent infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and copyright infringement disputes. His experience also includes helping high net worth clients navigate difficult contested estate issues in Louisiana and, when necessary, representing those clients in probate litigation in Louisiana state courts. Ryan also represents companies in complex commercial ligation and disputes regarding damages and claims for injunctive relief, including claims for breach of fiduciary duty, self-dealing, and related claims.
In addition, as an outgrowth of his representation of large corporate clients, Ryan advises clients on how to create state and federal political action committees and comply with the complex regulatory requirements applicable to them. This representation has included appearing before the Federal Election Commission in various matters.
