Jones Walker Adds Two Attorneys in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Jones Walker is pleased to announce that Michael Anthony ("Tony") Shaw and Mary Colleen B. Beers have joined the firm. Mr. Shaw joins as a special counsel in the firm’s Mobile office, and Ms. Beers joins as an associate in the firm’s Birmingham office. Both attorneys will practice in the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group.

Tony Shaw has significant experience in commercial litigation with an emphasis in construction litigation. He has represented developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in lawsuits involving commercial and residential construction. His experience extends also to the areas of real estate litigation, personal injury defense, commercial trucking litigation, and workers’ compensation. In addition, Mr. Shaw has extensive appellate experience involving punitive damages.

Mr. Shaw is a 2002 graduate of Boston College Law School, where he received his juris doctor degree and was a member of the National Mock Trial Team and the J. Braxton Craven Constitutional National Moot Court Team. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education and History, cum laude, from The Citadel in 1999. Mr. Shaw is licensed to practice in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi.

Mary Colleen Beers is a 2008 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law, where she received her juris doctor degree. While at Alabama, Ms. Beers was a member of the National Trial Advocacy Team and served as Senior Editor of the Alabama Law and Psychology Review. She also spent one semester as an extern for Judge Scott Donaldson, the presiding judge of Tuscaloosa County. In 2003, Ms. Beers graduated from the University of Virginia with a major in Foreign Affairs and a minor in History. Ms. Beers has litigation experience in the areas of financial services, insurance defense, professional liability, products liability, and construction.
