Rae Vasquez joined Jones Walker's Business & Finance Practice Group as an associate in 2002, and became a partner in 2009. Her practice involves a variety of commercial transactions, including real estate, secured public finance, drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements, (including purchase agreements, lease agreements, and development agreements), municipal bond transactions (taxable and tax-exempt financings), and tax increment financing. Ms. Vasquez has participated in significant real estate transactions representing national retailers, including acquisition, development, planning, management, land use, and zoning. Ms. Vasquez, as representative of both the public and private sectors, also has experience in economic development public-private partnerships and has participated in economic development projects, with a particular focus in securing economic development incentives from various state and municipal agencies. Recently, Ms. Vasquez served as underwriters' counsel for the $294 million bond sale for the restoration of the Louisiana Superdome, which was awarded Deal of the Year in the Southeast Region by The Bond Buyer.
Ms. Vasquez was born and raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and is fluent in Spanish. She attended Louisiana State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1997. Ms. Vasquez attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, where she received her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Civil Law degrees in 2002. She was admitted to the Louisiana bar in 2002 and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court, Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana.
Ms. Vasquez has lectured on the importance of compliance with the Louisiana Open Meetings and Public Records Law and is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association, Baton Rouge Association of Women Attorneys, Hispanic National Bar Association, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. She is also involved in community-based organizations such as the Academic Distinction Fund.
