Rae Vasquez is a partner in Jones Walker's Real Estate Practice Group. Her practice involves a variety of commercial transactions, including real estate; secured public finance; drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements, including purchase agreements, lease agreements, and development agreements; municipal bond transactions, including taxable and tax-exempt financings; and tax increment financings.

Ms. Vasquez has represented national retailers in significant real estate transactions, including acquisition, development, planning, management, land use, and zoning. Additionally, Ms. Vasquez has experience in representing 501(c)(3) organizations in working closely with public colleges and universities to address various infrastructure needs, including housing and parking.

As a representative of both the public and private sectors, Ms. Vasquez also has experience with economic development public-private partnerships and has participated in economic development projects, with a particular focus in securing economic development incentives from various state and municipal agencies. She served as underwriters' counsel for the $294-million bond sale for the restoration of the Louisiana Superdome, which was awarded Deal of the Year in the Southeast Region by The Bond Buyer.

Ms. Vasquez was born and raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and is fluent in Spanish. She attended Louisiana State University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1997. Ms. Vasquez attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, where she received her juris doctor degree and Bachelor of Civil Law in 2002.

Ms. Vasquez has lectured on the importance of compliance with the Louisiana Open Meetings and Public Records Law, proper protocol for conducting public meetings successfully, and contract negotiation strategies.  She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Association of Women Attorneys, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the National Association of Bond Lawyers and is also involved in community-based organizations such as Adult Literacy Advocates. In addition to these commitments, Ms. Vasquez is involved in the firm's recruiting efforts and works closely with students at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University.
