“Alternatives to Bankruptcy: What Are They and Do They Work?,” Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors’ Bankruptcy & Restructuring Conference, Nashville, Tennessee

Moderator and Co-panelist

By Jeffrey R. Barber
June 4, 2026

Jeff Barber, a partner on the bankruptcy & restructuring team and head of the firm's Mississippi office, was moderator and co-panelist for the "Alternatives to Bankruptcy: What Are They and Do They Work?" panel at the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors' (AIRA) Bankruptcy & Restructuring Conference on June 4, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. Jeff, together with financial and banking panelists, discussed bankruptcy alternatives — including receiverships and assignments for the benefit of creditors — exploring the advantages and disadvantages of each. They also examined the alternatives from both legal and business perspectives for debtors and creditors alike, addressing practical considerations such as venue, relative costs, and efficiency compared with traditional bankruptcy proceedings. Kristina Johnson, a partner on the bankruptcy & restructuring team in the Jackson office, also served on the planning committee for the conference.
