C. Ellis Brazeal, III, was quoted in the April 1, 2011, edition of the Birmingham Business Journal in an article titled "Business Bankruptcies Drop." The article discussed the decrease in business bankruptcy filings in the Northern District of Alabama in 2010, which was down twelve percent from the previous year. Of the 378 filings, most were Chapter 7, with 83 businesses filing for Chapter 11, which allows a business to file for bankruptcy protection while it restructures debt and continues operating. However, Mr. Brazeal said that only ten percent or less of Chapter 11 bankruptcies are successful. "Most Chapter 11s wind up being converted to Chapter 7 and being liquidated at that point."
