On May 1, 2015, the Birmingham Bar Association hosted its annual Law Day Luncheon at The Club in Birmingham, Alabama. Steven F. Casey, a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group in the Birmingham office and President of the Birmingham Bar Association, served as moderator of a panel discussion of the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta. This historical document greatly influenced the interpretation of due process, the right to trial by jury, and habeas corpus proceedings. Members of the panel included U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, U.S. District Court Judge David Proctor, Presiding Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Houston Brown, and Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon Falls. The event was attended by over 150 members of the Birmingham Bar Association, including Edward J. Ashton, Emily Sides Bonds, Barry A. Brock, Mac B. Greaves, and Kary Bryant Wolfe, all attorneys in the firm's Birmingham office.
