Managing Partner William H. Hines was recently elected Chairman of the Committee of 100 at its annual meeting in November, held in New York City. The three day event included meetings with more than 40 contacts and opinion leaders in New York including investment firms, international commercial offices, Bloomberg News, the New York Mercantile Exchange, and the Federal Reserve Bank. The event culminated in the ringing of the New York Stock Exchange closing bell on November 18, 2010. Joining C100 members were Economic Development professionals from the regions of the state and staff members of the Louisiana Economic Development Department. Mayors Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans, Randy Roach of Lake Charles, Joey Durel of Lafayette and Cedric Glover of Shreveport were also in attendance.
The Committee of 100 is a private, nonprofit organization whose membership includes the CEOs of leading private and public companies in Louisiana and university presidents of Louisiana’s institutions of higher learning. The Committee’s primary focus is to assist the State to attract and retain industry, ensuring quality jobs for Louisianans. The Committee seeks to act as a catalyst for the implementation of new programs to further the drive for economic growth in Louisiana.
