David M. Hunter, a partner in the Energy, Environmental & Natural Resources Practice Group, together with Business & Commercial Transactions associate Kara McQueen-Borden, both in the New Orleans office, co-authored the article, "From Santa Barbra to Macondo to SEMS," in Volume IV, Issue 2 of the Spring 2016 Louisiana State University Journal of Energy Law and Resources. The article compares the regulatory response to the Macondo oil spill with legislative responses to earlier oil spills, and examines the role of the Safety and Environmental Management Systems regulations in the Outer Continental Shelf regulatory scheme that is developing post Macondo.
