Jones Walker recently served as a sponsor of a civil rights tour of Birmingham for over 200 children from the New Orleans area. The event, hosted by the National Basketball Retired Players Association and Stand for Children Louisiana, was held on June 25, 2014. While in Birmingham the kids had a chance to visit Rickwood Field, the oldest baseball park in the country, where they watched the Birmingham Barons take on the Mississippi Braves in the 19th Annual Rickwood Classic. James T. "Lee" Birchall, a partner in the firm's Business & Commercial Transactions Practice Group, and Barry A. Brock, special counsel in the firm's Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group, both in the Birmingham office, attended the game with the children. After the game, the group visited the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. The tour concluded with a trip to the University of Alabama.
