Jones Walker LLP announced today that Lara Sevener has joined the firm as a partner in the Corporate Practice Group and a member of the commercial transactions team in the New Orleans office.

Lara has more than 20 years of experience advising clients on commercial and technology-related transactions, both as a lawyer in private practice, where she advised clients on both the supplier and customer sides of contract negotiations, and as in-house counsel to a number of market-leading national and multinational organizations. Her practice focuses on counseling clients on strategic commercial contracting as well as drafting and negotiating complex technology, cloud, outsourcing, and digital transactions.

Lara also regularly advises on the licensing of software and content, and the acquisition, use, and commercialization of intellectual property. She is well versed in transactional data privacy and advises clients on data protection issues that frequently arise in connection with both US and cross-border commercial and technology transactions.

Prior to joining Jones Walker, Lara served as global lead procurement, technology, and outsourcing counsel for a leading global audit and consulting organization. Her in-house experience also includes serving as lead e-commerce counsel for a Fortune 50 home improvement retailer and as senior counsel for technology and procurement for one of the largest producers of electricity in the United States and the largest wholesale energy provider in the Southeast.

Lara earned her BA from the University of Georgia and her JD from the University of Georgia School of Law.
