"Pipeline Protesters Barred from Trespassing on Pipeline and Construction Sites," Jones Walker LLP Energy Client Alert

In response to aggressive protest movements impacting recent pipeline construction projects and causing safety concerns, the Louisiana legislature has amended Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:61 to address the increase in trespass activities and damages caused by the trespassers and those inciting such activities. Louisiana House Bill 727 was passed by the legislature by an overwhelming margin, and on May 30, 2018, Governor John Bel Edwards signed it into law. The bill, which became Act No. 692 when signed into law, will become effective on August 1, 2018. Continue reading >
