"The Legal Landmines That Slow Startups Down," New Orleans Entrepreneur Week 2026 Summit, New Orleans, Louisiana

By Giles Detwiler Beal IV, Adam N. Matasar
March 13, 2026

Adam Matasar and Det Beal, partners in the Corporate Practice Group in the New Orleans office, presented during the New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) 2026 Summit on March 13, 2026, at Loyola University New Orleans. Adam and Det, together with Andrew Dunn, an executive at Hello Gravel, participated in the Jones Walker-sponsored panel "The Legal Landmines That Slow Startups Down," which explored potential setbacks new business owners may face that can slow down their startups. They focused on the legal issues seen most often in startup businesses, including equity tension, co-founder dynamics, ownership gaps, early contracts that don't age well, and decisions that may require correction later.
