Richard J. Tyler, a partner in the Litigation Practice Group, participated in the panel "Will HAL Take Over ADR?: ADR Neutral Use of Generative AI" during the American College of Construction Lawyers (ACCL) 36th Annual Meeting on February 14, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida. The panel critiqued the mediation recommendations suggested by different AI chatbots, discussed the benefits and risks associated with the use of AI chatbots in mediation and arbitration proceedings, and addressed the ethical issues arising out of the use of AI by arbitrators and counsel. Also on the panel were Joel Heusinger of Woods Aitken LLP, Jocelyn Knoll of Dorsey & Whitney LLP, and Bridget McCormack, President and CEO of the American Arbitration Association.
