Javier Bustamante is an associate on the Construction Team.
Javier represents a range of clients in the construction industry, from owners and general contractors to subcontractors and suppliers. His legal practice focuses on the arbitration and litigation of large construction and infrastructure project disputes.
Drawing on his family’s extensive history in Miami’s construction industry, Javier brings unique and practical insight into the challenges and opportunities facing the industry in South Florida. His experience extends to several aspects of discovery and trial preparation, including performing legal research, conducting briefing and motion practice, and preparing documents for mediation, depositions, and presentation at trial.
While pursuing his juris doctor at the University of Miami School of Law, Javier distinguished himself through both advocacy and trial training. He was a member of the nationally ranked Charles C. Papy, Jr., Moot Court Board, where he was selected to compete in the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition. Javier also completed the Litigation Skills Program with honors, conducting a simulated trial and earning the Marco A. Vazquez Memorial Scholarship.
He served as a judicial intern to Judge Adalberto Jordan of the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit as well as a summer intern for the Office of the City Attorney of Miami. Javier also spent a year as a law clerk at a commercial litigation firm in Miami, where he worked on numerous complex litigation matters and assisted with bench trials and evidentiary hearings.
