Mark Oliver is special counsel in the Corporate Practice Group and a member of the commercial transactions team. He advises clients on oil and gas title matters, acquisitions and divestitures, and the agreements that support exploration and production operations.
Mark has more than 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including both private practice and in-house roles with exploration and production companies. His experience spans operations throughout major producing regions, including the Haynesville Shale, the Permian Basin, and the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
Mark’s practice focuses on title examination and the preparation of title opinions for drilling operations, division orders, acquisitions, and financings. He also represents clients in the purchase and sale of producing oil and gas properties and advises on the structuring, negotiation, and preparation of agreements covering all phases of onshore and offshore exploration and production activities.
Drawing on both his law firm and in-house experience, Mark provides practical, business-focused counsel informed by decades of involvement in the energy industry.
Before becoming a lawyer, Mark worked in various aspects of the oil and gas business, experience that continues to inform the practical counsel he provides clients today.
