Rick served four terms in the US House of Representatives, where he chaired the Housing Subcommittee of the Financial Services Committee, served on the Health and Securities Subcommittees of the House Commerce Committee, was deputy majority whip, and assistant majority leader. Following his service in Congress, Rick held positions with several financial services entities.

Rick formerly led the firm's housing and housing finance industry team and serves clients in the real estate, banking and financial services, and government relations practices. He also serves as head of the firm's New York office. Prior to joining Jones Walker, Rick served as president and CEO of the Financial Services Forum, was an executive vice president and member of the Executive Committee of JPMorgan Chase, and served as managing director with the Real Assets Group of JPMorgan Asset Management.

A sought-after public speaker and regularly published author, Rick has written numerous op-ed pieces and was retained by CNN as a political analyst during the prior US presidential campaign.
