Valerie Fontenot is special counsel in the Litigation Practice Group and a member of the Healthcare Industry Team, where she focuses primarily on healthcare litigation and regulatory work.

An experienced lawyer with deep knowledge of federal and state regulatory frameworks, Valerie represents, advises, and guides clients through the rapidly evolving legal and policy issues surrounding the delivery of healthcare services. She works side by side with provider organizations, senior executives, and individual professionals to address a wide range of compliance issues.

Among other matters, Valerie is well versed in discovery rights, electronic health records and data privacy, the use of artificial intelligence and related technologies, health equity, and more.

When disputes arise, she is both a forceful advocate and an effective negotiator for her clients. Valerie has represented clients across the country in numerous civil and commercial disputes, including malpractice defense, as well as in a wide variety of general liability cases. Over the course of her career, she has successfully argued several cases at trial and before appellate courts. Valerie also represents clients in their interactions with law enforcement and other government agencies.

Along with her regulatory and dispute-resolution work, she helps clients identify and resolve potential exposures and risks in the context of corporate transactions.
