Juan Serrallés, a partner in the Corporate Practice Group and member of the Latin America team, recently represented a prominent Venezuelan family in a large estate litigation dispute, estimated to be valued between $30–50 million. The client expressed differences with two co-trustees under a UK trust and sought to revoke the trust and set up a replacement based in Switzerland with a new trustee. The prior co-trustees disputed the validity of revoking the UK trust and the transferring of assets. In response, Juan represented his client in the filling of a suit before the High Court of Justice in London in December of 2021. After extensive litigation, the court ruled in favor of Juan’s client on November 29, 2022.
