Matt is an experienced, entrepreneurial attorney focused on helping clients identify and manage construction-related risks, with an emphasis on dispute avoidance and litigation. He has been board-certified in construction law by The Florida Bar for nearly a decade and has earned an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

After several years in private practice, and before joining Jones Walker, Matt co-founded his own law firm, where he developed and quickly expanded his broad-based construction, real estate, and corporate practice. He draws on his extensive litigation and business-law background, as well as his direct experience growing a successful firm, to help clients identify potential issues and address disputes in a timely, effective manner.

Matt’s litigation practice encompasses sophisticated construction disputes, construction transactions, and related commercial matters. He regularly represents developers, general contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers in complex construction litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings involving mixed-use multifamily housing and other developments.

Matt also represents clients with operations and other investments in Latin America and South Florida. His experience includes arbitration representation and complex litigation management from investigation through trial and appeal, including complex defect claims, delay claims, payment disputes, bond claims, and insurance coverage matters.

In his transactional practice, Matt structures and negotiates complex, sophisticated construction and commercial agreements, including joint development agreements, manufacturing agreements, and purchase and sale contracts. He also has experience representing major real estate investment funds, on behalf of which he has handled commercial lease negotiations and other transactions.

While in law school, Matt served an internship for the Honorable Cecilia Altonaga of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. During his undergraduate studies, he captained Georgetown University’s Division I baseball team while maintaining academic excellence as a Big East Conference All-Academic team member.
